“India should not misunderstand Pakistan’s initiative towards peace as our weakness,” said Asif while addressing a session of the National Assembly.
“We are currently engaged in a historic war against militants in North Waziristan, but India should not mistake this as our weakness,” he said.
“We can respond effectively from any side.”
“Both states are nuclear, and should refrain from any kind of misadventure,” the defence minister said. “We do not want the situation to worsen.”
NA unanimously adopts resolution condemning ceasefire violations
The National Assembly on Thursday adopted a unanimous resolution condemning ‘unprovoked’ and ‘indiscriminate’ ceasefire violations by India on the Line of Control and working boundary.
The resolution was moved by Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affair Sartaj Aziz, Radio Pakistan reported.
The resolution called upon the government to raise the issue at the UN urging them to play their role in the resolution of Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes of Kashmiri people, while pursuing bilateral dialogue with India.
It further expressed concern over the plight of Kashmiris living under Indian occupation.
The House appreciated the resolve of the National Security Committee to thwart any threat to Pakistan's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Then who started Kargil war?
@asad nawaz khokhar: Dear Indians. Wanna know the difference? We fight terrorists. You make them prime minister.
Your ignorance is silly! Unlike Pakistan, where each party is asking Nawaz to step down, no one on Indian side including Indian Muslims is asking NaMo to step down. Indian PM even recruited the efforts of prominent personalities like Aamir Khan for social missions.
It is about time that Pakistani step down from "self appointed" pedestal of guardian and spokesperson of Islam.

Dear Indians. Wanna know the difference? We fight terrorists. You make them prime minister. Your delusions of grandiose are funny actually. Your (para)military is fighting a battle hardened army now. When the time comes, you will see how did anti-terrorism groom our army.
@Alladitta, how sad, even on Diwali you spend your time on a Pakistani news site? Log off, share your time with your friends and family. If you don't have any friends, Diwali is a good time to make new friends. By the way, for future reference, it's spelt Allahditta, so please correct that as it will make your trolling as a Pakistani more realistic.
@vinsin - 2 points. Firstly the forces in place to be used within the cold start doctorine will be well within a 150km range. The entire purpose of the strategy is to have lots of forces close to the border already, so if Pakistan was to start a war, India coulddeal the first blow, without the slow laboureous build ups of the past. Secondly have a read up around the effectiveness of ABM Defence systems. America tests launches from Thousands of kilometres away a single missile at a time in order to get it's "hit rate". Within a Pak/India conflict or any other conflict between direct neighbours ABM is uneffective due to the short ranges therefore the short timeframes between launch, detection, tracking counter launch and interception. Furthermore cruise missiles are terrain hugging, barely getting noticed on radar. The Babar has a 1500km range.
Today Indians are celebrating Diwali, so we can post anything we want. They won't be able to reply with logic and proof. I will start, Indians believe in so many gods, they tolerate all religions, they are investing in education instead of army, such fools, ha ha ha.
@Shakeel: Good one, but India has missile defence only small tactical missile upto max range of 150KM can hit India.
Guys, I know both Pakistanis & Indians trust their forces alot. But, it is really not sensible to be talking about war. We should both hope that peace prevails. If we cannot live as friends , we can atleast be not enemies as well. We could just exist side by side without having both love and hate for each other.
The Indian military is gravely mistaken if it thinks Pakistan is weak. Pakistan has developed an effective counter strategy to the cold start doctrine and maintains the right to first use of nuclear weapons.
Cold Start dictates that India will place a large volume of forces close to the border for rapid deployment into Pakistan in the event of a war. The aim is the break through the Pakistani lines and rapidly take territory, forcing Pakistan to back down. This is in contrast to previous wars where both nations would build up deployment on the border and each would surge forward in different sectors in the hope of using territory gained as a bargaining chip to return to normality.
The Pakistani response to cold start has been to develop thousands of cruise missiles and battlefield range ballistic missiles, which will be used if required with minituarised nuclear weapons for battle field use only. These will be fired on India FOBs (Forward operating bases) and advancing columns, taking out the vast bulk of the force. The limited distance between the two forces aids this as it is too small a distance for anti ballistic missile defence systems to be utilised.
The Indian military is entirely aware of this, therefore they do nothing but jump up and down like monkeys, like Post Mumbai. Their brave warriors talked a lot of talk then too. Pakistani's will never be intimidated by the people who were our slaves for over a 1000 years.
@abu: Well said
Instead of provoking neighbors, it is better should protect its own citizens (including minorities here) in the territory it already has..50% money spent on defense, rest on IMF loans interest..what economic model is this?
Pakistan Rocks
Please tell that to your owner
Nice
Finally His Excellency & The Honorable / VVIP Defence Minister has woken up and more importantly allowed to speak by His Majesty, The Noble PM NS. The only issue is that the Army 'has been' responding to the Indian provocation, not that it 'has' the ability to respond. Just shows how much he knows!
“We are currently engaged in a historic war against militants in North Waziristan, but India should not mistake this as our weakness,” ---- what sort of war it is . can you call it a war when not a single bullet is fired from the opposition. i do not support militants but don't call it a war . it is a crack down on the militants . army is dropping bombs and militants and the civilians alike are fleeing .
Pakistan once stops violence on LOC , stop providing cover by firing on LOC to push the infiltrators aka Jihadis ( in your language) while they are terrorists and indulged in inciting the peaceful locals and violent activities to Indians. The whole world knows about it except the common men of Pakistan . So i can assume that the statement is for domestic consumption.
Can anyone throw this khawaja out of this country?
Defence Minister please stand up.I did not know we had one!
Good nobody is scared to die here cuz even one will do the job
