Reduction in petroleum prices expected: State Minister

ISLAMABAD: A reduction in petroleum prices is expected in view of the prevailing trend in international market, said Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources Jam Kamal in the Senate on Wednesday, Radio Pakistan reported.

Responding to a call attention notice by Ilyas Bilour, the minister said that the government passed on the relief to consumers whenever there was fall in oil prices in the international market.

Narcotic smuggling

During the question hours, the Senate was informed that Pakistan is one of the three countries with the largest drug seizures.

Minister of State for Interior Balighur Rehman told the House that 200 people were arrested at various airports in 2013 for smuggling narcotics.

To another question, he said the federal government had imposed a ban on issuance of arms licenses to contain illegal arms.

Rehman said currently the process of verification and computerisation of issued armed licenses was underway by NADRA.
