MUMBAI:

Veteran theatre-film actor Naseeruddin Shah said he watched the film Happy New Year, which stars his youngest son Vivaan along with industry big wigs Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. Singing Shahrukh’s praises, he said that when it comes to commercial films, no one can be a better guide for his son than King Khan.

“For commercial films, no one but Shahrukh can be the right guide for him,” said Naseeruddin, who has received critical acclaim for his work. He shared that he enjoyed the film, terming it a ‘paisa vasool’. “I am very happy with Vivaan’s performance [in the film]. Being a newcomer, he has been given a lot of attention,” he commented.

Directed by Farah Khan, Happy New Year features an ensemble star cast, which also includes Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani and Sonu Sood. Naseeruddin, who was present at the Mumbai Film Festival to talk about his film Junoon, said that the film is not only inspiring but also memorable.

“I feel festivals are the right platform for films, which don’t have big budgets. I feel proud that I was associated with this film,” he said. Released in 1978, Junoon was directed by Shyam Benegal and starred acting legends, such as Shashi Kapoor, Shabana Azmi and Nafisa Ali.
