Cross-border attack: 3 FC men injured from TTP firing in Bajaur

KHAR: Three Frontier Corps (FC) officials were injured in cross border firing by Taliban militants on a Pakistani check post in Bajaur Agency on Monday morning.

A Khar political administration official while confirming the attack on the post in Ghakhi, said that militants from the Afghan province of Kunar fired on the FC officials, injuring three of them. The forces retaliated to the attack, while the injured were evacuated to a hospital for treatment.

TTP spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid spoke to the media via telephone from an undisclosed location and claimed responsibility on behalf of the militant organisation for teh attack.

Bajaur Agency shares border with the eastern Afghan province of Kunar where militants have hideouts, and have frequently attacked Pakistani border posts in the tribal area.

Pakistan has often raised the issue of cross-border attacks on the diplomatic front with the Afghan government in the past, but to little effect.

In the agency, officials and pro-government tribal elders have been attacked on a regular basis by militants. On Saturday, two FC officials were killed, and two others were injured in an IED blast in the Salarzai area of Bajaur.

@LyingonTheface: Insha Allah we will survive rather we will emerge stronger after these crises. We are a resilient nation who are going to surprise people like you. If these TTP people are Muslims; then they must surrender to our armed forces. A few hundred people can't make us hostages. The Indians before 1947 have always been ruled by outsiders and the history will sooner repeat itself.
