Promotions: Major reshuffle in NAB on the cards

LAHORE: A major reshuffle is expected in the country's apex anti-corruption watchdog - the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), The Express has learnt.

Sources familiar with the matter in the NAB informed The Express Tribune that promotion board meeting of the bureau will be held next week in which four officers are to be promoted from BPS-20, while more than 20 officers are tipped to be promoted from BPS-19.

Among those who will be promoted in BPS-20 are Additional Director IT Capt. (retd) Farrukh Naseem, Additional Director NAB Balochistan Adbul Hafeez Siddiqi, Additional Director NAB Balochistan Amir Shah and Acting Director NAB Punjab Mirza Sultan Saleem.

Prosecutor General Accountability Bureau (PGA) Muhammad Kareem Khan Agha's three year constitutional tenure is going to expire in the mid of next month.

Two Directors General (DGs) including Col (retd) Subeh Sadiq, Director Human Recourses and Finance NAB Headquarters, and Col (Retd) Shehzad Anwar Bhatti, Director General NAB Rawalpindi chapter, are going to retire on December 24, 2014 and first week of January 2015, respectively.

After retirement of the two DGs and further placement of DGs at the newly established NAB's Regional Bureaus NAB Punjab (Multan) and NAB Sindh (Sukkur), four seats of DGs will need to be filled with new DGs.

Sources said that four grade-20 officers including Major (retd) Saleem Shehzad, Major (retd) Shabbir Ahmed, Major (retd) Burhanuddin and Major (retd) Tariq Mehmood are currently on a Senior Management Course (SMC) mandatory for promotion to BPS-21 from BPS-20.

On the completion of SMC, these four officers are expected to be placed on the posts of DGs which are going to be vacant in the next couple of months.

It is also expected that for the two new regional offices, senior most directors of the BPS-20 will be given charge of the DGs temporarily.

Other big addition to the NAB Headquarters would be made in the form of Nawazish Ali Khan, a Capital Development Authority (CDA) officer who is going to be posted as Director Media BPS-20 on deputation basis.

Recently, Aliya Rasheed, a senior officer of NAB, was given a charge of the post of DG Awareness and Prevention Division NAB Headquarters, while Altaf Bhawani was posted as DG Training and Research Division of NAB Headquarters.
