Postings and transfers: 10 promoted to grade-22, another 14 reshuffled

ISLAMABAD:


The government on Friday promoted 10 bureaucrats to grade 22 and also reshuffled 14 others.


The officers who have been elevated to grade-22 include religious affairs additional secretary Sikandar Ismail Khan, who has been promoted to Overseas Pakistanis Ministry secretary. AJK Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat has been made Ports and Shipping secretary, and Aftab Anwar, who was posted at the FBR, has been made Karachi Export Processing Zone chairman.

Additional Secretary Amjad Mehmood has been appointed Establishment Division special secretary, while Mirza Amir Sohail has been appointed Religious Affairs secretary.

Finance Additional Secretary Haseeb Athar has been promoted to Federal Ombudsman secretary, Rashida Malik, previously an officer on special duty, has been made Climate Change secretary; while Interior Additional Secretary Imtiaz Tajwar has been made NAVTTC executive director.

Cabinet additional secretary Nargis Gulu has been made State Life Corporation chairman; Additional Interior Secretary Hamid Ali Khan has been promoted to CADD secretary; and Housing Additional Secretary Younus Dhaga has been made Water and Power additional secretary. Shahrukh Arbab, who was posted in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, has been made housing additional secretary, and squadron leader (retd) Abid Ali has been appointed AJK chief secretary.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Printing Corporation MD Azhar Hussain Shamim has been promoted to Grade 22. He retires on October 20.

NAVTTC Executive Director Khalid Anis has been asked to report to the Establishment Division. Saud Aziz has been made National Crisis Management Cell DG. Aziz, a BS-20 officer who was Rawalpindi police chief at the time of the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, was previously OSD.

National Training Bureau DG Qazi Zaheer has been made an OSD. He has been replaced by Dr Fiaz Ahmed Ranjha, a grade-20 officer. AJK Finance Secretary Yusuf Khan has been sent to Punjab. BA Nasir of the Police Service of Pakistan has been given one-year extension on a UN mission.

The government has also appointed Naseer NS Jaffer as PIA chairman despite a restraining order issued by the Islamabad High Court. The IHC issued the restraining order against appointments at 35 public sector companies including PIA.
