Mufti-e-Azam Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah, in his Hajj sermon, denounced terrorism and termed it haram according to Islamic beliefs.
“Islam believes in co-existence and harmony. The door of repentance remains open in our religion, it never closes,” Mufti Abdullah said, while delivering the sermon on Monday to pilgrims assembled at Mount Arafat in Saudi Arabia. “Allah has conferred men with reason and consciousness so that he can differentiate between good and bad. We should respect each other.”
He said that the Holy Prophet (pbuh) had presented a comprehensive concept of worship. “Even those who are defaming Islam offer prayers. But Allah’s pious men will change fear with peace for it is only in peace that we can worship and establish mosques.”
He said that Islam condemned an act that was aimed at creating anarchy in a society. “Being the religion of peace, it calls for an end to cruelty and defiance. Allah has called Muslims the best Ummah on the face of the earth and he who kills a Muslim deliberately would be sent to hell,” Mufti Abdullah said.
He called upon the Muslims to “eat what is halal and avoid the forbidden. Don’t hanker after vain desires. Follow the Quran and Sunnah. Islam endorses moderation, there is no room for materialism,” he said.
Speaking about Islam as a way of life, Mufti Abdullah said that divine revelations and raising prophets was meant to propagate the message of Allah’s oneness and this succession of guidance for human beings was still in progress. “A human’s inner being (nafs) excites him to do evil. Allah sent the last and final prophet [Muhammad (pbuh)] with a complete code of conduct and this Sharia is in harmony with human nature as it caters to all natural and material needs of humans.”
