Spirit of equality: PTI to observe Minorities Day on Oct 19

Javed Piyara says only 0.5% quota was reserved for minorities in government jobs by ANP

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) central leader for minorities Sajid Ishaq Sindoh has announced the party’s plans to observe Minorities Day in Islamabad on October 19.


Addressing a news conference at Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, he said minority groups will attend the PTI’s protest camp in Islamabad where PTI chief Imran Khan will make a series of announcements on preserving rights of minorities
in Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion, senior leader of minorities Javed Piyara said in the previous government of Awami National Party (ANP) in the province, only 0.5% quota was reserved for minorities in government jobs. However, under the current PTI-led government, the quota has been increased to three per cent. Piyara also announced scholarships for minorities in the province.

According to Piyara, Hindu and Sikh communities from Gurdwara Punja Sahab, Hasan Abdal will participate in the event. Moreover, special advisor to the chief minister on minority affairs, Sardar Soran Singh, will also attend the event.
