A petitioner requested the apex court to interpret the meanings of both terms in this case.
During the hearing, Justice Dost Muhammad Khan said the definition of ‘Sadiq’ and ‘Ameen’ were not included in Article 260 of the Constitution.
The three-judge bench, headed by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja, resumed on Thursday the hearing of an appeal, filed by Gohar Nawaz Sindhu of the Insaf Lawyers Forum, against a verdict of the Lahore High Court (LHC) which had dismissed his petition for the disqualification of the prime minister last month.
The petitioner claimed the premier had first asked army chief General Raheel Sharif to act as a ‘mediator’ between the government and protesting parties – the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) – and to serve as a ‘guarantor’ to any agreement between the parties concerned.
He alleged that the premier had later lied in front of Parliament and had denied making any such request to the army chief.
The bench directed the petitioner, Sindhu, to submit his formulations regarding the case. Similarly, it also summoned the attorney general for assistance regarding the maintainability of this petition.
The bench also decided to delink two petitions, filed directly by Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and PTI leader Ishaq Khakwanai, to disqualify the premier.
The petitioner also stated that parliamentarians had made a law of contempt of court, but no legislation has been made to stop defamation of the army However, Justice Khawaja said that the court does not make the law, only interprets it.
The hearing of the case is adjourned until next week.

Pakistan is an Islamic Republic. Therefore, what Islam gives the definition of Sadiq and Ameen it should understood the same. This is not a rocket science. Actually these judges are bought by NS so they gives verdict as per their boss. The big example of Musharraf in the recent past is in front of us. The verdict of every case came from the PM's office. That is the reason you will see that the reserved the decision for a future date. Perhaps they would consult the PM's house. When this is the case then how can anybody expect a verdict against NS.
how can one define the wage and so wide words... and would apply on the peoples of pakistan....
Every sane person wants to leave the country for foreign shores, any place that has Sadiq and Ameen people. It is only in the Land of the Pure that its SC should show such ignorance in such an ignoble fashion.
Should'nt there be a Sadiq and Amin to be defined? If one doesn't exist how can you have a definition.
PM NS is an honest man, but PTI wants people to believe otherwise. I wonder how many times can Imran Khan be challenged for not being Sadiq and ameen for he tells a new lie every night. I call his stories lies becuase he cannot substantiate his allegations with solid proofs.
@Sam: Perhaps that is where our problems start. We should separate religion from the state. Pakistan should not be called an Islamic Republic as it is exclusionary to other religions. Secondly things like the requirement for rulers to be sadiq and ameen just create confution and were added to the constitution by people who were far from beeing sadiq and ameen themselves.
My goodness! I am neither hesitant nor reluctant to bet on my life to pronounce that our all honorable Supreme Court judges without any exception whatsoever are Muslims and therefore they must know who is Amin and Sadiq but in case if they cannot define both the terms then I will very strongly advise that they should immediately advertise both in Pakistan and overseas asking Islamic scholars to define both Amin and Sadiq so that SC issues its verdict if PM Nawaz can be categorized Amin and Sadiq or not. It is a pity that the SC Judges cannot define "Sadiq & Amin". It is their job as per the Constitution.
@Sam: that is what is wrong with the country.
Pity, Level of morality of Pakistani leader, Institutes and nation. They need definitions of "Sadiq" and "Ameen".
The Constitution was so designed that the rulers would rule forever. If an upstart were to challenge the rulers and come to power "Sadiq" and "Ameen" would eliminate him with TKO. While every Constitution is designed to leave no room for ambiguity or interpretation, Pakistan has designed one for the opposite effect, justice by ideology and interpretation.
Shameful of so called justices who will protect there masters by hook or crook..
What!! they Cant understand the meaning of 'Truthful' and 'Righteous'.. what next.."the constitution doesn't define what 'lies' are.
Then what were these terms doing in Constiution for last 40 years and great Supreme Court was so naive that they didn't knew what the consequences would be of such terms. SC has done a good job but they are too late now. Civial war preparations are already underway and is about to begin anytime now.
the definition of ‘Sadiq’ and ‘Ameen’ were not included in Article 260 of the Constitution
It was the same Jawad S Khawaja, the uncle of Arsalan Iftikhar, who was instrumental in giving a verdict against Gillani. His hypocrisy, double standards, and legal illiteracy is known from day one.
When the SC judge says, they do not make law but only interpret the law, so they should also interpret article 62 & 63 ? the judges in Pakistan knows only to give verdict as per their whims & interpretation which suites them at that particular time & situation. There are ample evidence & precedence that similar issues were given different verdict...what is this ? is this call justice ?
Those who need constitutional definition to understand what is 'Sadiq' and what 'Amin' means lack the most basic knowledge about our faith and have no justification for sitting in Pakistan's superior judiciary; this whole bench has discredited itself and jeopardizing the whole of the judicial system, they all three of them must be fired immediately from their posts and denied whatever financial claims and benefits they might have on our treasury. Shame on this ignorant bench the whole bunch of them.
Ours is a nation bent on breaking its own records in double standards. Don't our law makers have something better to do. Just go home and sleep.
Well, duh! Of course it isnt defined. That is why the SC exists! To interpret the constitution when no natural interpretation exists...
Am I the only one who thinks like that??... most of the US SC's job is to interpret the constitution. If something is precisely defined, then why would the case ever get to the SC? It would be decided by a lower court.
Most of our countries problems stem from an judicial system that can politely be called inept.
If that's not the case then why country is called Islamic republic? Not sure when this nation will do one thing right...maybe after its slaved 100%
Justice is server. So it is proved once again that law for rich is dfferent and law for poor is different.
If SC had listened PTI one year before for vote recount then it would not expose up to this level. I think PMLn is not need of sending its lawyer in SC because angels fight for PMLn in SC.
