The apex court’s three-judge bench – headed by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja – is hearing petitions filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ishaq Khan Khakwani and lawyer Gohar Nawaz Sindhu seeking the disqualification of the premier.
The petitioners contend that the prime minister had recently given a ‘false statement’ in the National Assembly regarding involvement of the army chief in negotiating with parties – the PTI and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) – staging sit-ins in Islamabad and therefore, he should be disqualified under Article 62 (f) of the Constitution.
During a hearing of the case today, Justice Khawaja said that a video of the PM's speech in Parliament could also be made available to the court if need be.
Articles 62 and 63 state that persons speaking in Parliament must be truthful with no allegations against them. In further comments, Justice Khawaja said that 'the person' who amended Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution was not truthful or trustworthy himself.

Hope that the without any further delay, our Judiciary will disqualify the PM. Mr. Sharif is the most corrupt PM of Pakistan and I wish that the honorable Judiciary will into the history for launching a “New” Pakistan otherwise as a nation we will not survive if PML-N completes their full term. These corrupt politicians are so deep routed that for their interest they can make Pakistan a banana republic. The current bunch of corrupt politicians spends most of their time in “plotting and scheming” on how to loot and plunder the national wealth of world’s poorest country. We have very little time to save Pakistan. Please move fast and set a true example of “Jinnah” who was also a part of Judiciary.
Mr. Jawad S Khuwaja already showing signs that he is biased .. "Justice Khawaja said that ‘the person’ who amended Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution was not truthful or trustworthy himself"
thing just got real.@go nawaz go..... XDXDXD
Courts are blindly supporting Status quo. Courts were very active to take cases against dharnas, but did no say a single word about innocent people killed in Lahore and Islamabad. Common are killed by powerful politicians and humiliated in courts by judges. If people with such a low calibre have political powers and judicial powers then don't blame USA, India and Israel.
@Kaleem Ullah: Yes, I don't recall any lies by IK. On the other hand, mian sahib is a habitual liar....I still remember his saying he made no deal with Mush to leave for Jeddah, and then later admitted he did make a deal.
Instead of making the choice to support judiciary, start criticizing it bcz NS is being discussed. what a slave mindsets. sad.
Nawaz was ousted from power twice before. About time he goes again.
The billionare, groomed under military dictatorship, once tried to pass sharia law runs a country that survies on loans. The billionare has hundreds on cases of corruption and has his own family and extended family sitting on top postionions through out the country. No entity in pakistan has power to take on his majesty. These are not hidden facts.
Amazing! The people like Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, who can't get elected on their own and have to get elected to parliament through back door, are champions of democracy.
@Kaleem Ullah:
Do you have any sense of proportion at all? Do you know the difference between private and public? It does not matter how many purported "lies" Imran may have told (he never lies though). What matters is what the PM of our country says on the floor of the national assembly against its own armed forces.
Same applies for Imran flying around in planes--he can do so as much as he wants on private expenditures and so can Nawaz. But, the PM of our country is answerable for his junkets at OUR TAX EXPENSES.
Is that clear now, Einstein?

Dragging out something as simple as this.......the SC gives the impression that its waiting for a signal from somewhere......SAD.
Honestly, I have lost all hope in our judiciary.I fully supported the local judiciary in 2007-2008 crisis but they have been a complete disappointment so far. Judiciary should serve the public not ruling political parties.
Insanity further prevails. If this is criteria for disqualification, can PTI voters in the name of God claim that IK never lied to public.
