LAHORE: The Punjab University Academic Staff Association on Tuesday passed a resolution condemning the formation of a Provincial Higher Education Commission. A meeting of the association was held at the Institute of Chemistry’s auditorium. The participants said there was a conspiracy to curtail the autonomy of institutions of higher education. They said teachers had not been taken on board for the appointment of commission members.  They also opposed funding of private universities by the government saying that public money should be spent on public universities only.
