No relief: Bail plea of ex-MNA dismissed
Lawyer says his client might be arrested if he came to attend the hearing
LAHORE:
Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday dismissed a bail application filed by former MNA Naseemur Rehman named in a reference by the National Accountability Bureau for acquiring assets beyond his declared income. Rehman’s counsel told the court the allegations against him were baseless. He accused the NAB of implicating Rehman in the case for political reasons. He said the NAB had failed to prove the allegations that the former Awami National Party MNA had acquired assets worth Rs8.2 million illegally. The lawyer said his client might be arrested if he came to attend the hearing. He requested the court to grant Rehman protective bail. The court dismissed the application.
