MULTAN:

A businessman lodged a complaint on Monday against the Multan DCO and demanded Rs2.1 million in damages after the Qasim Bagh incident.

He said he had a contract to renovate Qasim Bagh stadium. He said the DCO had allowed the PTI to hold its rally although the stadium had yet to be handed over. In his complaint, submitted to the DCO’s office, contractor Yousaf Randhawa stated that he had a Rs650 million contract to renovate the stadium. He said the work had been completed.

He said Muhammad Zubair, the PWD executive engineer, had written five letters from 2012 to 2014 to the Multan district sports officer and the Multan DCO to take over the stadium. However, this did not happen.

“DCO Zahid Saleem Gondal gave approval to the PTI for the rally. He had no authority to take the decision. He did not obtain permission from the PWD,” he saidd.
