Tampered signage: SC registrar seeks report on missing alphabets
The Supreme Court registrar on Monday sought a report from the deputy registrar regarding the tampering of alphabets from the official signboard outside the building.
The apex court took notice of the vandalism by unidentified individuals on Saturday. SC Registrar Tahir Shahbaz has directed the deputy registrar to submit a report within a week and fix responsibility as to who was behind the act.
Shahbaz has also sought an explanation from the Superintendent of Police deployed for the security of the sit-ins at Constitution Avenue.
The Supreme Court administration, meanwhile, has removed the remaining alphabets and the Public Works Department has been directed to repair the signboard within two days.
Supreme Court Bar Association President Kamran Murtaza demanded stern punishment for those responsible for removing the alphabets from the signboard. He said the act tantamounts to ridiculing the judiciary and the judges should take up the matter when they hear the case regarding the sit-ins by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek next week.
