Compensation: ‘First phase of flood relief completed’

LAHORE: Punjab Relief Chief Commissioner Nadeem Ashraf said that the first phase of distribution of financial assistance among flood-hit people had ended. He said a survey had been conducted by NADRA staff, the Revenue Department and the district administration in this regard and heads of flood-affected families had been paid Rs25,000 as compensation.

He said committees comprising judges, senior government officers, district officers and lawmakers had been constituted to address grievances of flood-hit people. He said the distribution of financial assistance among flood victims in south Punjab had been completed in a transparent manner. Ashraf said Rs5.28 million had been distributed among 21,173 families in south Punjab. Rs2.59 million was given to 10,388 families in Multan, Rs2.47 million had been distributed among 9,897 families in Muzaffargarh and Rs2.2 million had been distributed among 888 families in Bahawalpur.
