“Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is concerned about the recent escalation of violence along the Line of Control between Pakistan and India,” said Ban's spokesperson in a statement.
At least 13 Pakistanis have been killed while scores of others injured from heavy mortar shelling and firing from Indian security forces across the LoC and working boundary for over a week now.
The UN chief deplored “loss of lives and the displacement of civilians on both sides, and encourages the governments of India and Pakistan to resolve all differences through dialogue and to engage constructively to find a long-term solution for peace and stability in Kashmir.”
Pakistan has already raised the issue in the United Nations.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has also convened a meeting of the National Security Committee on October 10 to discuss the security situation.

@Babu: Oooh! I'm realy scared. What's gonna happen to Iraq(India) then?
@GUKCHIN: We have seen what Pakistan has been doing to our country. Now you watch.
hey Indians,,,,, Hold on, it is not 71. You don't have idea of what Pakistan can do to your country. Save your country from the anger and wrath Pakistan can bring on to you. Better watch out your filthy streets and people therein. Let both countries work for peace and prosperity. Remember, Pakistan has the all capabilities to respond in coin and inflict unimaginable destruction on you. Better don't play with Pakistani Fire.
@Candid1: Please read the chapter under which the UN resolution of Kashmir is. Is that chapter mandatory or oluntary? Also please note that your PM signed Simla agreement making UN redundant for dispute resolution in Kashmir.
@Assad " - a single air strike and nuke" " give it a try, would you?" A single air strike/nuke by you, is all India needs to wipe you off map with the same nukes they have.Since india has no first use policy, they won't start.. But if someone does, the retaliatory measures would be heavy and enormous. . You are in catch 22 situation. Use a single, first and you will be condemned by world community and nobody will fault us to nuke back and wipeout as retaliation. By the time you do one, ten will be one its way and there won't be a another side... So use your brain wisely before making stupid sweeping statements.
UN chief's suggestion is only a ritual and does not carry any weight.
@Babu A single air strike and nukes every where, give it a try, would you?
@Candid1: Cant you understand why he is not asking for a plebiscite ??? Is that not a common sense ??? Sorry for asking wrong questions to wrong people
India can make pakistan like Syria in a week, It is clearly mercy of India not to go that path and they have to thank us .
Instead of making ineffective statements, the UN Chief should ensure that the Security Council's resolutions on Kashmir are implemented. It is the UN's disregard for its own resolutions that has led us to the situation being faced today.
Pakistani Army is learning the lesson fast. ET is no longer publishing the news as it wants peace like everyone else. Thanks ET.
Please Release Musharraf! Miss you Musharraf!
And the country home to more impoverished people than subsaharan Africa.
One can't talk to animals. UN has failed to terrorism that started in Pakistan. Now many Muslim countries are involved in terrorism. Islamic terrorism is spreading like wild fire.
yeas you are right sasi...
india is 100 times stronger than pakistan but stil pakistan made mistake again and again. firstly manage your country provide enough food and clothes to your civilians and after that think about war. indians need to donate only 1-1 rupee only and fund will be raised more than 1.2 billion but pakistan need to sell their property for fulfill war requirements. so this my request as well as warning don't think about kashmir. kashmir is is part of us and we never give anybody.
@Sasi: What U.S. Is here in Kashmir?
Perhaps UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon should talk to President Obama and ask him why the Indian prime minister has become so belligerent after meeting with him, it seems he got the green light from the White House to create mischief to destabilize Pakistan which is already teetering on political turmoil at home. Political instability in Pakistan favors the US because it will be easy to dictate a figure head prime minister who is already so weakened that he does not even say anything about India's calculated murderous acts. It is time for him to go home and take care of his business abroad and let some one comes in who could stand up for Pakistan.
Imran Khan and Qadri are holding marches to topple the govt...
Nawaz Sharif tried to raise Kashmir issue in UN but was given tough reply from Modi the next day
Now there is firing at border....
I still cant understand if common Pakistanis are unable to see the pattern here..Nawaz is clearly trying to shift nation's attention from Imran to the bigger 'Enemy' India....
