DG Civil Aviation says measure taken owing to security concerns

PESHAWAR: International flights at night have been suspended at Bacha Khan International Airport due to recent incidents of firing at the airport, Express News reported.

"The decision was made due to security concerns," DG Civil Aviation said, during his briefing on Thursday.

On October 7, four unidentified men opened fire on a passenger plane at Peshawar airport. The firing took place around 4:30am in the morning and no casualty or loss of life was reported.

Earlier, Emirates and Etihad halted operations at the Bacha Khan following an attack on a Pakistan International Airlines airplane on June 25. A female passenger was killed and two crew members were injured in the attack.

However, Emirates resumed operations soon at the airport but Etihad still has not.
