Bullet-riddled body of retired khasadar found in Mando Mela

JAMRUD: Two government primary schools, one for boys and one for girls, were destroyed in two separate incidents when bombs planted inside them exploded on Tuesday night in Jamrud subdivision of Khyber Agency.

Irshad Mohmand, an official of the Jamrud political administration, said the boys school was targeted in Lashora while the girls school was in Walo Mela.



Mohmand added unidentified militants had planted powerful improvised explosive devices (IED) inside the schools and blew them up within the span of an hour.

Both schools were destroyed in the explosions.

Following the blasts, khasadars rushed to both sites and launched a search operation. However, no one was arrested.

Meanwhile, the body of a retired khasadar was found by the roadside in Mando Mela.Mohmand said unidentified militants had earlier kidnapped Haji Abdul Latif from his house, took him to an unknown location and on Tuesday night shot him multiple times. The militants then threw his body by the roadside. Khasadars discovered the body and took it to Jamrud Civil Hospital from where it was handed over to his family.

Kidnapped doctor released

A doctor who was kidnapped by unidentified militants for ransom was rescued from the Jamrud Bypass. An official of the khasadar force said Dr Irshad Khan, who runs a private clinic in Jamrud, was kidnapped by unidentified militants from his house four months ago. Dr Khan was released by militants on Tuesday evening.

Bomb defused

In a separate incident, a bomb was defused from outside the house of a tribesman on Wednesday.

According to Mohmand, militants had planted a high-intensity bomb in Jamal Khel. The bomb was spotted by a pedestrian who informed the khasadars. The bomb disposal unit was called in to defuse the device. Moreover, a rocket was fired at the house of Hashmat Khan in Takhta Baig area, Jamrud tehsil. Fortunately, no loss was reported.

Separate cases of the incidents were filed at the Jamrud political administration office and further investigations are under way.
