But what they don’t realise is that what once worked in their favour could now work against them. As compiled from realsimple.com, here are five tricks you can follow to ensure you flaunt your age with style.
Wearing your hair too long: Many women associate flowing tresses with youth, but as you get older and begin to lose fat in your face, straight long hair can make you look more haggard. Pump up the volume with face-framing layers, which will help your face appear rounder and fresher. Avoid poker straight hair that could make you look harsh.
De-accessorise: Avoid overly accessorising. Sport accessories to draw attention away from exigent areas by focusing attention towards one area, such as the face with earrings, or the neck with a necklace or scarf.
Wrong footwear: Wearing the wrong style or size of shoes can make you look much older than your actual age. Make sure your shoes aren’t mismatched with your outfit. Heels always add to your style and make you look younger and slimmer than you are. Wearing running shoes or flip-flops with every outfit can add years to your age.
Don’t follow trends blindly: Don’t chase after certain pieces just because they are the latest fashion statements. Focus on creating a wardrobe that comprises pieces to which you can add the current season’s à la mode accessories that complement your age and personal style.
Dress your size: Anything in the extreme, whether it’s too tight, too loose, too short or too long, can draw negative attention towards you. If you feel you will be self-conscious while you’re wearing it, it’s best to toss it. Stick to clothes that fit right and are easy to move in. That alone will shave years off in an instant.
