Shehzad was sitting in a showroom when unidentified armed men entered the office and opened fire. Shehzad was shot thrice and killed, while one person sitting next to him was injured.
Condemning the killing, the DPO said police have reached the site and were collecting evidence from the showroom. Police will also talk to the injured man once his condition is stable.
Shehzad had been working with Express News since the channel started. He was also the chairperson of the city’s press club.
Police said they will also look into Shehzad’s news reports aired in the past few days to see if he was targeted because of his work.
Express News reported that a Dunya News correspondent was targeted in a similar manner a few days ago in the city.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of Yaqoob’s murder and asked DPO Hafizabad to submit a report within 24 hours.
Other senior parliamentary leaders, including PML-Q’s Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and PPP’s Qamar Zaman Kaira have condemned the murder.

Target killings is part of great conspiracy against Pakistan to make it a sharia state imran khan and qadri are part of the scheme.
Just to save its precious vote bank the present government harbors and refrains to take action against hardened criminals and religious zealots. The fruit of all this is evident all over the country. To top it off when the brave forces take decisive action against such elements their is hardly any political support. Wonder how many more sacrifices will it take to rid the country of such incompetence.
@Sana: This is not a result of the failure of democracy, but is the result of the failure of the writ of law and the writ of government. If governments were allowed to function without dharnas, strikes and such, things would be much better.
How could you trus police to investigate? Didn't police attack media on live TV, no one has been arrested yet?
@sana..what about extra-judicial killing urdu speaking in karachi...since 1992 more than 15000 killed in Karachi in the name of operation

Pakistan is one of worst country for Journalists. The PML-N government is a complete failure. The hazaras have been attacked again, extortion in Karachi and target killings are on the rise, load shedding has not been reduced, police that is supposed to protect people has started killing them(model town and Islamabad)
Is this the supreme holy angelic democracy that pml-n and PPP want to protect. ?
Shame on the government !
I would request all tv channels not to "create" sensational stories . ARY was clearly caught encouraging anti pml-n slogans in Gujrabwals , much to the annoyance of the locals .
Pakistan keeps its ranking for being the worst country for journalists.
May his soul rest in peace. . . Authorities must arrest the murderers asap. .
