For publicity?: ‘Third umpire’ thrashed in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA:

A prisoner who claimed to be the ‘third umpire’ was thrashed by his escort at the sessions court on Saturday.

Inamullah, a resident of Khayali, had been arrested for hooliganism. On Saturday, while leaving after the hearing, he shouted for the media to take notice of him. He claimed that he represented the ‘third umpire’ in national politics and shouted slogans against the chief minister. He said people of Pakistan should be the umpires of their own fates and had a right to decide who they wanted in power.

He also chanted slogans against the prime minister and said he should take notice of his plight.

Policemen tried to calm him down, but failed. He was overpowered and beaten by the policemen present. He was then dragged away to judicial lock-up.
