According to Express News Correspondent GM Jamali, Sindh government issued a notification early on Saturday on Hayat's appointement as DIG CID.
He has been ordered to take charge of his new office on Saturday morning.
The decision to appoint Hayat came after the PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari asked the Sindh government to appoint an honest officer on the post to continue the work of slain SP CID Chaudhry Aslam.
Hayat had previously been removed from the post of AIG after a Supreme Court decision termed him in-eligible for the post since he had been appointed to a Grade-21 post despite being an officer of Grade-20.
Hayat is one of the officers who had initiated the targeted operation in Karachi and is expected dive into it again once he takes charge of DIG CID.

I am a Karachiite and I fully support Shahid Hayat. The problem with MQM supporters is that they fail to admit that there are plenty of black sheeps in their ranks and hence they get targeted by an honest cop. I am a MQM supporter in many fronts (such as local govt. system and the work Mustafa Kamal did) but I have no shame in pointing out their weak links.
@Blithe:
Federal govt may be, but Karachiites aren't. His 'targeted operations' are largely centered on relatively safe, cooperative MQM strongholds and Lyari to some extent, while completely ignoring the Pakhtun-dominated no-go zones that have sprang up all over the city. Bring local govt system and let Karachiites run Karachi.
Good . Federal Govt. is totally supportive and behind him
