Political gathering: Shah excited about Bilawal’s ‘first’ public meeting

PPP’s political activities coincide with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s announcement of activating the party in Sindh

HYDERABAD:

Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah was very happy with the fact that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will address his ‘first’ political public meeting on October 18 in Karachi.

Shah said that this is the first time that Bilawal will address a public meeting as he used to address crowds only on the anniversaries of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto in Larkana. The chief minister was addressing a press conference on Thursday night.

October 18 also has a historical significance for the PPP as dozens of its workers were killed in the terrorist attack on Benazir Bhutto’s convoy in Karachi seven years ago. Every year the party commemorates the anniversary of this Karsaz attack.

“Bilawal has the passion and great ideas to improve the lives of the common people,” said Shah.

The PPP’s political activities coincide with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) announcement of activating the party in Sindh through public campaign.

PTI chief Imran Khan has already thrown down the gauntlet to the PPP by scheduling a public meeting on November 21 in the heartland of the Bhuttos, Larkana.

Referring to the criticism levelled against the former PPP-led federal government and the second successive government in Sindh, Shah said that they only served the poor during the last six years. “We have given over 200,000 jobs which can’t be matched by any other province.”
