Altaf names new party presidents for K-P, FATA and Punjab

Barrister Saif named new MQM chief in K-P and Fata, while Mian Ateeq anmed new party chief in Punjab

KARACHI: Muttahida Qoumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain on Friday announced new party chiefs in Khyber PakhtunKhwa, Fata and Punjab, Express News reported.

Addressing the MQM General Workers Convention via telephone from London, Hussain continued with his party shake up.

Barrister Saif was named as the new MQM president in K-P and Fata. Meanwhile, Rabita Committee member Mian Ateeq was given the charge of the party president in Punjab.

Sohail Mashehdi, Rafiq Ajmeri were also choosen as zonal members of MQM in Hyderabad.

The MQM chief said the party represented the downtrodden segments of society. He again clarified that he had never demanded the division of Sindh.

However, he reiterated his call for creating new administrative units across the country, claiming that they were the need of the hour.

Party members are the only members of MQM in those regions. MQM and Awami league of Sheikh Rasheed are in a tough competition in KP, Punjab and Fata.
