A statement issued by the MQM on Wednesday said that the party's Rabita Committee members in London and Pakistan had directed Hussain's attention towards reservations expressed by some quarters over his letter to the Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif containing 14 questions.
The MQM supremo said that not only does he respect the army as a Pakistani but also recognises their countless sacrifices for the country. He added that if certain elements from within the ranks of army were violating the dignity of the army then it is the duty of every true Pakistani to point it out.
Terming army as the last ray of hope, Hussain said that people look towards their own people in the time of need and distress. "I have looked upon the Pakistan Army as a protector like any other Pakistani," the statement added.
Commenting on the on going political turmoil in the country, Hussain said the political stand off between government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) has virtually pushed the country to the brink of bankruptcy.
The MQM chief warned that if differences between government and protesting parties are not resolved soon through meaningful dialogue, then a stage might come where country as a whole or in parts might be put on stake.
