A statement issued by the MQM on Wednesday said that the party's Rabita Committee members in London and Pakistan had directed Hussain's attention towards reservations expressed by some quarters over his letter to the Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif containing 14 questions.
The MQM supremo said that not only does he respect the army as a Pakistani but also recognises their countless sacrifices for the country. He added that if certain elements from within the ranks of army were violating the dignity of the army then it is the duty of every true Pakistani to point it out.
Terming army as the last ray of hope, Hussain said that people look towards their own people in the time of need and distress. "I have looked upon the Pakistan Army as a protector like any other Pakistani," the statement added.
Commenting on the on going political turmoil in the country, Hussain said the political stand off between government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) has virtually pushed the country to the brink of bankruptcy.
The MQM chief warned that if differences between government and protesting parties are not resolved soon through meaningful dialogue, then a stage might come where country as a whole or in parts might be put on stake.

@Jalbani Baloch: Dear Sir, here is a simple question....how do you improve governance if the current system is not performing? Lets not talk about Urdu/Sindhi/Pushto/Saraiki/Any language speakers right now. Lets talk about making the life of all the people better. How do you give power to the people? You delegate...unless you have another solution...please do share with specifics.
I am failed to understand why people do comparison with Army. You can never do comparision of Apples with Oranges. First do something and come up to the level of this Institute before doing any comparisons. That is the reason people failed in hate comments for this institute in last.
Mr. Altaf Hussain should also tender apology to millions of Sindhis living in Sindh and abroad for statement on the division of Sindh, which is not even thinkable for Sindhis and other communities who have settled in Sindh. His statement has fomented hatred and contempt amongst the people of different races, who have adopted Sindh as their permanent not only homeland but motherland. A large number of Sindhis, who came in the fold of MQM, are parting their ways with MQM.
@Lyaritte: your nick tells you don't wish to even associate yourself to Karachi, when Lyarittes live on the money looted from Karachiites!
@mrs ahmed: So he was right before or now? Before ur comments were full of hate and now will u write pro-army and pro Pakistan comments? Please stop fooling nation and make up ur mind and fix one direction.
Why give such odd statements then apologise later. Only tells something about the typical mentality.
@ashar: nothing new Altaaf Hussain has always given a rethink if advised by rabita commette , and he does review his stance if he feels the need ,it is positive that he opologized with a big heart for his emotional outburst , actually innocent woen badly treated and racvial abuse is very very difficult to bear
