PLBW 2014 Day 1: Black carpet breakdown

From eastern to western wear, celebrities sported diverse designs and silhouettes

October 01, 2014

As bigwits from the entertainment and fashion industry made their way to the PDFC L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week (PLBW) 2014, we spotted a series of different looks — some, good, some, not so good. From eastern to western wear, celebrities sported diverse designs and silhouettes with a colour palette ranging from deep hues such as black to subtle tones of pink.

While some looks were downright blitzkrieg on the black carpet, some were a blizzard of fashion no-nos. Here is a breakdown of three looks from the event to give you an idea of what’s hot and what’s not this season.

Meesha Shafi: The singer-actor wowed us with a Parisian-style black jumpsuit by Élan, cinched at the waist with a leather belt. Her fiery red pout and bright-pink metallic clutch by Maison Martin Margiela added oomph to the monotone jumpsuit. Meesha’s studded Kurt Gieger stilettos (not visible in the photograph) made up for her lack of accessories. Known for her edgy, bicker-chic look, she was bang-on trend, as she opted for a ear cuff. Bijli aaye ya na aaye, Meesha is sure to brighten up any place with her look.

Anoushey Ashraf:  The famous VJ looked like she was ready for a pre-wedding event, but her charm makes her effortlessly carry her outfit off. Her minimal make-up, dangling earrings and wavy tresses made her look as pretty as a petal... just not fabulous enough for fashion week. We are big fans of traditional wear, but this HSY outfit didn’t make her a stand-out on the black carpet. We hope her ensemble for PLBW 2014 day two vindicates the otherwise stylish Anoushey.

Juggan Kazim: The vivacious television host’s Nickie Nina ensemble wasn’t one of our favourites, but she looked as radiant as always. Sporting hues of black with a dash of olive green and cream, Juggan strutted on the black carpet, flaunting her million-dollar smile. Her neatly back-combed ponytail and minimal make-up were perfect for an evening among the glitterati. Her Roberto Cavalli clutch and Alexander McQueen pumps were basic, but we love ’em.
