The PPP leader, while speaking at the Lahore Press Club, said he has been screaming himself hoarse since yesterday to clarify that Shah had not made any such statement.
"Ask Khursheed sb, ask me, Shah sb did not say anything like that," Kaira added.
The PPP leader went on to rebuke those criticising Shah unnecessarily.
"What is the reason for Khursheed sb to be a victim of this character assassination?" he asked. "That too for something he has not done. He is a senior political worker and he should be treated like one."
Earlier, Shah had told journalists in his chamber at the Parliament House that if the situation arises, the prime minister can himself call for snap elections.
"It will not be appropriate to force the prime minister to resign at gunpoint. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will not accept any midterm polls in such a situation,” Shah was quoted as saying.

@Fatima If we start going by personal whims and wishes, no government, no place would be able to function. You will get chance again in 2018. Nawaz just didn't storm in to government, people voted him in, people like me. If he does not perform in tenure, we will go vote some one else in but your whims and wishes cant be fulfilled.

For these guys their party PML-N and their baradri/family is everything they are least concerned about their religion or the country or the awam who elected them into power. Some opportunists in PPP want to take advantage of PTI's abrupt downfall but wise people like Kaira know that PML(N) will win landslide victory wiping out both PPP and PTI.
If a clerk joins a political party and becomes billionaire in just 15 years and does not know his sources of income and anybody asks him it will be threat to democracy. What a shame these politicians bring for us.
Geo was one of the main news source that did not twist this statement. Shah's stand has been clear and without a doubt. Of course the PM can call for a snap poll if he desires to prove a fresh mandate but it is up to him and not his enemies. Some are unhappy about PPP standing tall and not being a party against an elected govt. This is new era and not 80's and 90's. No secular and democratic party would be a part of any conspiracy against an elected govt. This dishonor only goes to the two rightwing leaders who are ready to pack and run.
Yes , Kaira is very correct , The present govt . has proved on the floor that it has full mandate to rule the country . Why PM should declair election at present when army needs his moral support to eradicate terrorism from the country and facing the state of war .
