Motive unknown: Two injured in bomb blast in Kohat

Two people were injured when an explosive planted by unidentified militants on Hangu Road in Kaghazi went off on Sunday afternoon.


The Kohat Cantonment police SHO Nazir Khan said unidentified militants had planted a timed device at a roadside in Kaghazi.

“The device exploded at 1:30pm when a van heading to Peshawar from Hangu was passing through the area.” Nazir said the driver of the vehicle, Salim Khan, a resident of Orakzai Agency, and passenger Ghafar Khan were injured while all others onboard remained unhurt.

The SHO said the vehicle was also partially damaged in the blast.

He added passers-by took both the injured to Liaquat Memorial Hospital, Kohat where they were stated to be in critical condition. Bomb disposal unit in charge Akbar Khan later shared that an explosive weighing five kilogrammes was used in the blast.
