Section 144 has been imposed on motorbike riding throughout Swabi district from Monday (today).
A statement issued by the office of Swabi Deputy Commissioner Kamran Afridi stated the ban would continue till October 2 and has been imposed to help maintain security.
The statement said motorbike riding would be banned between 6am and 6pm, especially during a planned polio campaign. It added the section would extend to public gatherings, display of weapons, setting up illegal cattle markets and campaigns for animal hide distribution.
The handout said those found guilty of violating the ban would be punished under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Over 250,000 children will be vaccinated against polio in Swabi. Three new polio cases have emerged in different parts of the country, a government official stated on Saturday, bringing the total number of children suffering from the disease to 174.
