KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on Saturday refuted allegations of rigging at various polling stations in the provincial assembly constituency PS-29-Khairpur from where he had won a seat in the general elections last year. His denial came before an election tribunal where he had appeared on notice to defend himself during proceedings. The tribunal, headed by former Sindh High Court (SHC) judge Zafar Ahmed Khan Sherwani, is conducting proceedings on an election petition against alleged poll-rigging in PS-29 and NA-215, both of which were won by Pakistan Peoples Party candidates. Garnering 44,362 votes, Shah was declared the returned candidate on PS-29, while Nawab Ali Wassan had won NA-215 by bagging 91,809 votes. Former CM Ghous Ali Shah, who lost the election on both these seats, had challenged the results of the polls.
