KARACHI:
The Sindh High Court (SHC) has given Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) administrator Rauf Akhtar Farooqui four weeks to clear the entire city of illegal encroachments, in compliance with orders passed by the Supreme Court (SC) earlier.
A SHC division bench, headed by Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, granted KMC a month for this task on Farooqui's request during the hearing of a petition against the illegal occupation of an amenity plot in Landhi. Petitioner Naeem Qureshi had submitted that amenity plot ST-35 located at 37-D Landhi had been encroached upon and residential buildings had been constructed on it. The court had ordered the removal of encroachments on the plot and directed the Sindh Building Control Authority to take action against the officers involved in the violation.
