KARACHI:

In the 17th bank heist of the year, armed robbers walked away with Rs2.5 million and $38,000 from the Saddar branch of United Bank Limited on Saturday.

Six robbers stormed into the bank at 9:10am, snatched the weapons from the three security guards and held the staff and customers hostage at gunpoint.

The police took the security guards into custody. "It took them [robbers] hardly two minutes to pull off the heist and walk away," said Saddar SP Syed Salman Hussain. DSP Wasif Ali said the police had managed to nab the offenders involved in 14 out of the total 17 bank heists this year.
