Crowds chant 'Go Nawaz Go' forcing Hamza Shahbaz to cut short his speech
During his speech, woman stands and starts chanting 'Go Nawaz Go' stirring the rest of the audience
LAHORE:
Hamza Shahbaz, son of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif faced an embarrassing situation on Saturday when during his address to mark World Tourism Day in Alhamra hall, Lahore, crowds started chanting ‘Go Nawaz Go’ forcing him to cut short his speech.
As the central leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz started taking jibes at Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf chairman Imran Khan, parts of the crowd could be seen walking out of the hall in protest in the Express News footage.
Jeering Hamza, a woman rose and started chanting ‘Go Nawaz Go’ in the middle of his speech.
Undeterred in her chants and stirring the crowd, 'Shame shame' could be heard echoing in the hall as Hamza is forced to cut short his speech and uncomfortably stands up from the stage to dash towards the exit door.
Hamza was the chief guest of the event and was expected to address the crowd at 11am but started his speech at 1:30pm, agitating the crowd.
The disgruntled crowd claimed that they were waiting hungry and thirsty for Hamza since eight in the morning. However, not only was he late, but he ignored the topic of tourism and only addressed the current political crisis.
This is not the first time a PML-N minister has been heckled by the crowds.
Earlier, during Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal's speech at Preston University, a student chanted 'Go Nawaz Go.' However, Iqbal was not perturbed and continued his speech, while the student was later expelled.
