Plantation drive: CDA aims to plant 0.3m saplings

Kazmi informed that nearly 0.2 million saplings had already been planted in different areas of the city.

The Capital Development Authority has decided to plant a total of 0.3 million saplings across the federal capital during the ongoing monsoon tree plantation campaign.


This was informed by the CDA Member Environment Syed Mustafain Kazmi while addressing participants of a ceremony held at a local school in connection with the plantation drive.


Kazmi informed that nearly 0.2 million saplings had already been planted in different areas of the city, while the remaining saplings would be planted within the next 10 days.


He maintained that the authority have been utilising all available resources to maintain the greenery in Islamabad to further beautify the city, according to the modern lines, in cooperation with city residents who play a pivotal role in the tree plantation drives.


Kazmi added that on the directions of the CDA chairman Maroof Afzal a comprehensive strategy had been devised to ensure maximum survival of saplings planted during the current drive.


In order to make tree plantation drive a success, participations of representatives of NGOs, civil society, students and general public had been ensured.
