Promoting Tax Culture: TRC’s constitution approved

ISLAMABAD: The government on Thursday approved the constitution of Tax Reforms Commission with an aim to facilitate the general public about taxation issues and upgrading the current system. The approval was given by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar. The commission, as its duties, would undertake review and rationalisation of direct and indirect taxes; customs tariff rationalisation; review of autonomy and administrative structure of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and creation of a border force. “The government has a firm resolve to promote tax culture in Pakistan but it is also equally important that the grievances of the people are addressed and their suggestions are acknowledged for improving our taxation system.” The commission will comprise of 20 members and may co-opt any other person with prior approval of the competent authority.
