Overcharging: Court summons CDA official

ISLAMABAD:

Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday summoned Director Municipal Administration (DMA) of Capital Development Authority (CDA) today over a petition against exorbitant rents in the cattle market.

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui summoned DMA Hamza Shafqat in response to a petition filed by a trader challenging high costs at the sacrificial market in Sector I-11.

The petitioner, Muhammad Zafar, said the contractor is charging an entry fee of Rs120 for each goat or sheep and Rs200 per cattle which is too high.

The petitioner’s counsel claimed that besides fee for animals, parking fees are also charged by the contractor which is illegal.

He requested the court to order the charging of nominal rates so the
general public could be facilitated. The court then summoned the officer and adjourned the matter till Friday (today).
