Need proof that Oscar de la Renta’s timeless designs can work on women of all ages? Look no further than Taylor Swift and Amal Alamuddin, who both recently donned the designer’s same floral number. One is a pop sensation, the other, a human rights lawyer. But despite being worlds apart, Taylor, 24, and Amal, 36, appear to share a similar traditionalist fashion sense. The dress features short sleeves, a cinched waist and a bright-red floral pattern, accented with pops of blue and chartreuse. While Taylor was recently spotted sporting the $890-worth dress in New York, Amal wore it to a lunch date with her fiancé, actor George Clooney, in Florence. The singer wore her blonde hair straight and peach-coloured blush for her casual day out. She wore thick black eyeliner to enhance her chic appeal. Her bright red-pout was a cherry on top of her ultra-feminine look.

Taylor’s preppy take on the dress looks appropriate for city weather. She opted for a look that is decidedly more grown-up than her usual ensembles, but is still young and happening. It’s no surprise that she topped People magazine’s best-dressed list this year.
