Pakistan to take up concerns over relief efforts in Kashmir with India
The Committee members were of the view that India, which calls itself world’s biggest secular democracy, should stop its discriminatory attitude in providing relief to the flood affected people of Indian Kashmir.
According to an official press release, Chief Secretary AJK told the committee that the losses in AJK are mainly due to landslides caused as a result of rains and flash floods.
He further said that floods have nothing to do with the water coming from India and the increase in water flow was purely because of extensive rainfall.
Expressing concerns over the preventive and precautionary measures to minimise losses in AJK, the senators proposed that iron gabions should be built to avoid landslides which caused loss of infrastructure and precious lives.
The chief secretary, however, stated that the mountain terrain in AJK has wet soil and the situation after extensive monsoon rains gets uncontrollable. These mountains have become weak after the 2005 earth quakes and landslides have become a regular happening.
He informed the committee that other than Mirpur, there is no flat land in AJK and there is no possible way of changing the life patterns of people living on mountains.
Briefing the senators, DG SDMA said that 3,000 people have been evacuated from Bagh, Poonch, Kotli and Mirpur. The senators were shocked by the devastation caused by floods and asked the administration to come up with the detailed report in the next meeting.
Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Muhammad Birjees Tahir proposed to the committee that Chairman NDMA, DG Metrological Department and Foreign Secretary should also be called in the next meeting of the committee.

Who saved people stuck in Lal Ded, SMHS hospitals? It was the locals. My cousin who lives in Kursu, Rajbagh , who was stuck in the attic had to pretend that he was a non-local...only then did the army save him. Govt. of India has blocked all international aid to Kashmir, why? Insecurity and arrogance.

Dear Pakistan, please mind your business. First provide freedom to the people of Baluchistan who are suffering under Pakistani hegemony. The world should focus on providing azaadi to the brave people of Baluchistan.

This is happening since 68 years to isolate the Kashmiri Muslims.

A country that is killing its minorities on a daily basis is taking up it's concerns over nonexistent discrimination in India.

You can even catch the interviews of Kashmiris who were rescued by the Army.
This objection is based on existing prejudices, not based in reality.
If anyone has any questions they can ask the Pakistani Golf Team who were first hand witnesses.
People will say anything to further propaganda. All this will lead to is Radicalization among the youth of Pakistan.
On a relative note, where is the concern for the Kashmiri Pandits who were forced out of their homeland? 200 people died in the recent floods. 100,000 plus Kashmiri Pandits were driven out by their fellow neighbours! Is this concern only for Muslims?

Senate Standing Committee on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan DID NOT expressed its concerns over lack of relief efforts in POK and decided NOT to lodge a formal protest .
This does not seem to be a genuine concern but a malicious intent. This is taqiya at its best. The whole world saw the speed with which releif efforts were marshalled to the affected areas. There could be areas where it took time to reach them, but that cannot be attributed to discriminatory attitude. The floods in AJK were even worse, but there seems to be a complete media blackout here.
