Govt wants speedy settlement of Reko Diq arbitration

The government on Tuesday sought swifter settlement of arbitration issues associated with the Reko Diq Project in Balochistan.

In a meeting of Laws Review Committee on Tuesday, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar reviewed different draft laws as well as the current status of the international litigation regarding the Reko Diq Project.

He reviewed litigation against the government of Balochistan as well as the federal government.

Different aspects of the arbitration came under discussion.

The meeting expressed the view that once litigation concludes, the project would be able to contribute to the economic uplift of Balochistan.

During the course of Tuesday's meeting, it was agreed to undertake efforts that would see a speedy settlement of arbitration issues related to the project.

Matters pertaining to an ordinance related to GIDC and other proposed legislations were discussed in the meeting.

Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Federal Minister for Science and Techonology Zahid Hamid, special assistant to the prime minister Khwaja Zaheer Ahmed, Attorney General of Pakistan Salman Aslam Butt and Nadeem Hassan Asif were present at the meeting.

The meeting expressed the view that once litigation concludes, the project would be able to contribute to the economic uplift of Balochistan. . That's true - but litigation only concludes once you have paid the settlement which maybe a multi billion judgement. Reko Diq is a great example of why Pakistan can't attract international investors - also demonstrates the level of corruption within Balochistan, Islamabad and even the SC.

I smell a rat.

Now wonder why US has shown support for this government amid Political Sit-ins.

But rest assured whom so ever touched Reko Diq with malafide intentions will immediately be electrocuted and this government almost lost all its moral authority.
