ECP material destroyed in Lahore school fire

ECP deputy director says material affected was for by-elections and local bodies elections

LAHORE: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday clarified that material of vital importance was not stored in a government school in Lahore where fire broke out, Express News reported.

“The material stored in the basement of the government school was not used,” ECP Deputy Director Abdul Hameed asserted.

Earlier today, a fire broke out in a government school on Reti Gun Road, destroying material belonging to the ECP.

“The material for general elections was not affected,” Hameed said, adding, “The material stored in the basement was for the upcoming by-elections and local bodies elections.”

The deputy director further said that it is routine to store election material in government schools and permission was sought from the Punjab government in this regard.

“The commission had been using the basement for storage purposes temporarily.”

Hameed stated that the commission is estimating the losses caused to their material by the fire and will inquire into the incident.

Rescue 1122 workers managed to extinguish the fire. School officials and students were evacuated soon after the fire broke out and sent home.

Another 100% confirmed and assured intentional step taken to destroy the evidences against Nawaz Sharif.How shamefully the most precious evidences and materials was handled carelessly by ECP and wasted dably.....
