Election tribunal orders re-election in NA-267 Kachhi-Jhal Magsi

QUETTA: Balochistan Election Tribunal on Friday declared the results of the NA-267 Kachhi-cum-Jhal Magsi as void and ordered re-election in the constituency.

Independent candidate Khalid Hussain Magsi had won after securing 42,240 votes in the constituency during the May 2013 general elections. The runner up, Abdul Rahim Rind, who secured 38,915 votes as an independent candidate, had challenged the result.

Rind had complained that rigging took place in 32 polling stations of Jhal Magsi and eight polling stations of Kachhi.

Advocate Shams said the tribunal declared the results of the constituency void and ordered re-election. “Rahim Rind and other submitted complaints about the massive rigging in Jhal Magsi and Kachhi districts.”

Praising the election tribunal’s decision, Rind said the decision would help in bringing the real representatives of the people into the Parliament.

According to Balochistan Election Commissioner, the judgment has been sent to ECP, who will announce a date for re-election in the constituency.
