Lpg price hike: LHC seeks reply from OGRA, ministry

LHC seeks reply from OGRA, ministry

September 20, 2014

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday sought reply from the petroleum ministry and the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) over a petition filed against the recent increase in the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices. Advocate Noshab A Khan filed the petition, stating that the LPG marketing companies had increased the prices without OGRA’s permission. “The LPG prices should have been decreased after they fell by $25 per tonne in the international market,” he said. “As OGRA had not issued any notification, therefore the recent hike in LPG prices is illegal,” Khan said. He requested the court to cancel the new prices. Justice Shujaat Ali Khan adjourned the hearing until Oct 22 and directed the respondents to submit their replies.
