Sacrificial animals: CDA auctions I-11 cattle market

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Thursday auctioned a temporary cattle market site in Sector I-11 for Rs21 million.


The mandi for sacrificial animals will be set up near Fruit and Vegetable Market in front of Metro Cash and Carry from 1st Zil Hajj (September 25) to 13th Zil Hajj (September 8).

The bidding was held at Fire Headquarters Building under the supervision of director municipal administration while director security while finance and audit directorate officials were also members of the auction committee.

Last year, the same facility was bid out for Rs10 million. A total of 45 companies participated in the bidding. Media persons also observed the bidding process.

The auction committee rejected a bid of around Rs5.6 million on Tuesday terming it below the reserved bid amount calculated for this year.

CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal has appreciated the measures taken for the successful bidding process of cattle mandi and said that the departments concerned would ensure proper sanitation and provision of basic facilities at the cattle market.

The chairman directed the departments to ensure uninterrupted supply of water as well as streetlights at the market. The civic agency will also arrange ambulance service for the market to meet any untoward incident.

Afzal directed the Directorate of Municipal Administration and Environment Wing to ensure that there is no illegal sale of sacrificial animals in other parts of the city except the approved site.
