MUMBAI: Kajol, who has maintained a low-key presence on social media, has finally debuted on Twitter. But she has only put her absence from the micro-blogging website on a ‘pause’ and joined it for a ‘cause’. As the actor gears up to leave for New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly week, she will tweet updates about its happenings for her fans.

As an advocate for Lifebuoy’s ‘Help A Child Reach Five’ movement, Kajol will attend the seminar on September 23 and September 24 as the hand-washing brand ambassador at the UNGA week, said a statement. She will post tweets on her Twitter handle @KajolAtUN, which she created on September 14.

Her first tweet read, “Hi guys! Joining Twitter for a few weeks... all for a good cause.” She decided to join Twitter to spread the importance of good hand-washing habits. “Going to the @UN to support #handwashing. Hopefully, will get more people to understand the convenience and necessity of this! #Helpachildreach5,” she posted.

Actor-filmmaker Ajay Devgn welcomed his wife and tweeted, “Very proud to see @KajolAtUN advocating handwashing at the UN and supporting the #Helpachildreach5 movement.” Bollywood celebrities and fans extended a warm welcome to the talented actor, sending her tweets to congratulate her for spreading awareness about the cause.
