Quality control: Butcher arrested, meat seized

Police said Rajput said the buffalo he was selling had died two days ago and its meat was rotten.

DERA GHAZI KHAN: The Livestock Department of Dera Ghazi Khan on Wednesday confiscated 400kg meat and arrested a butcher. District Officers Muhammad Munir and Muhammad Sajjad told The Express Tribune that they received a tip off that carcass meat was being sold by a man on a rickshaw from Darahma to Dera Ghazi Khan.

He said the department notified the police who arrested butcher Mehboob Rajput near Cantt police station. Police said Rajput said the buffalo he was selling had died two days ago and its meat was rotten.

The district officers appealed to the public to inform them if substandard meeting was being sold in their areas.
