No casualties: Police thwarts militant attack on check post in Swabi

The building of the check post was damaged by rocket shells and bullets, however no loss of life occurred, said Khan.

Unidentified militants attempted to attack a police check post in Drang, Swabi late Monday night, however, the police managed to thwart the assault.


Addressing a news conference on Tuesday, DPO Swabi Sajjad Khan claimed that around 15 militants armed with light and heavy weapons attacked Drang check post from two sides by firing rockets followed by heavy gunfire. The DPO added that the officials on duty retaliated and forced the assailants to flee.

The building of the check post was damaged by rocket shells and bullets, however no loss of life occurred, said Khan.

According to Khan, police launched a search operation after the attack but no arrests were made.

“Around a dozen officials were on duty at the check post and they retaliated valiantly,” said the DPO. He also announced rewards for the officials.

A case was filed against unidentified militants and further investigation is under way.
