Addressing a seminar on “The Changing Dynamics of Global Power Structures and the Role of China” organised by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute, Fatemi said CPEC will be a transformative project in the context of Pak-China relationship.
He said the project represented the two country’s mutual efforts to put economic cooperation and people-centric development at the core of bilateral agenda.
Fatemi said that despite its meteoric economic development, China continues to adhere to the principles of “peaceful development and coexistence”. “On the global stage, China is a strong supporter of multilateralism and is playing a key role at forums like the United Nations, G-20 and Shanghai Cooperation Organization,” he said.
“Chinese Premier Xi Jinping has presented the ‘Chinese Dream of National Rejuvenation’ as the signature theme for his presidency.”
The motto underlines the determination of the Chinese leadership to continue on the path of economic development and reform, he added.
The official described China’s economic rise as an enormous opportunity for developing countries around the world. “Chinese assistance has been crucial to the socio-economic development of Asia, Africa and Latin America.”
He added President Xi’s vision of a “Silk Road Economic Belt” and a “21st Century Maritime Silk Route” spanning Eurasia symbolises China’s concept of economic connectivity for the region.
