In a statement issued on the fourth death anniversary of MQM’s deputy convenor, MET Police said they were determined to arrest the murderers of Dr Farooq and were investigating the case from different angles.
As many as 4,466 persons have been interrogated while 7,401 documents were reviewed and 3,900 statements recorded as part of the investigation.
The police said they had arrested two suspects in connection with the murder but had been released on bail, adding that they were in constant contact with Pakistani officials.
MET police also appealed to the public to cooperate with authorities to bring the culprits to book.
It may be recalled that Dr Imran Farooq was murdered in London while on his way back from work on September 16 in 2010.

Metropolitan Police London check your websites. They are overflowing with information. Has this anything to do with recent visit of CM Punjab to London, an expert on investigating such cases.
For MET police information: The persons who committed this murder are in the Pakistan authorities' custody and they are using them as bargaining chip to reign in the man behind the murder - who lives in a posh locality of London and got British nationality due to a "clerical mistake".
@Aam Aadmi: That is because the main persons accused fled London, most probably to Pakistan and this country is either unable to arrest them and send them to London for further investigation or the Govt uses these of and on to pressure Altaf and to get political leverage. This is possibly reflected in Altaf's on again off again support of the Government.
Here you go, MQM will start supporting Gov. again and MET police will get a shut up call!
Not sure if MET police is just incompetent or if AH is just that good!
At times ET says a lot without uttering a single word! Nice archival photo from good old days though; ah nostalgia!
