Swat killings: Three village defence committee members shot dead

The defence committees are made up of pro-govt vigilantes defending their villages against militants

Three members of village defence committee members were gunned down in Swat on Monday. The defence committees are made up of pro-government vigilantes defending their villages against militants.


According to Kabal police station, a local village defence committee chairman, Zahir Shah was shot dead by unidentified persons at Gul Jabba area.


Iqbal, a resident of Gul Jabba said that Shah, a school teacher, was going to work when assailants ambushed him. Similarly, in another incident, unidentified persons shot two village defence committee members in Bara Bandai area of Swat. Mohammad Zeb and Farid Khan were good friends and active members of the local village defence committee. Local residents said that Zeb and Khan were walking home when unidentified men gunned them down.
