HANGU/ DI KHAN: Terrorists on Monday killed three people in attacks targeting police in Hangu and Dera Ismail Khan. Three of the attackers were also killed in retaliatory firing.

In Hangu, unidentified armed terrorists attacked Thall police station, killing one policeman early morning.

"A group of up to six militants attacked the police station and one of the attackers blew himself up when police intercepted them and responded to firing," district police chief Anwar Saeed Kundi told AFP.

Police started a search operation to capture the remaining militants who had fled after the attack and killed two, he added.

"No group has so far claimed responsibility," said Kundi, adding that the attack was an act of terrorism.

It is said the attack took place at the police station where an FIR was registered against the US drone strike in Hangu.

In a separate attack in DI Khan, militants attacked the house of SHO Saifur Rehman and killed his two brothers. The SHO was not at home when the attack took place.

Rehman had carried out an operation against militants in Arora, DI Khan on Sunday, killing one while arresting another militant. District police chief Sadiq Baloch told AFP that Rehman's brothers were killed in revenge of the operation.
